inventory format ideas
hello. today i have a decision to make!
i want to work on adding in the game inventory. we need to be able to see how many scissors we have at any time for pete's sake.
so i have two ideas, and i want your opinion.
this inventory format will be in its own scene. there are categories of items that you can access by navigating the cursor to the top of the screen. ignore the item sprites, they are just garbage to get my idea across.
this one will be in the same scene as the player. the right side would be a menu, which i could show in this very scene, which the first format wouldn't allow. with the way the camera engine works, sometimes the player will be obscured by the menu or the content that is accessed through the menu. this format doesn't make categories very easy, so i've omitted them. i don't think they will be missed too much, because i don't think there will be an obscene amount of items in the game.
i also got the idea of implementing an item storage system. i originally thought that the player inventory would be able to hold anything they needed, but an item storage system sounds really fun. like a post-apocalyptic carrier pigeon delivery service.
so which one do you like more?
thank you!
